Leather: Leather comes from an animal's skin. It can be cut and stitched to make coats, shoes, purses, or bags.
Glass: Glass is made mostly from sand which is heated in a furnace. When it's hot , it can be shaped into a vase, a bottle or a glass.
Wood: Wood comes from trees. The trees are taken to a sawmill and cut into planks. A carpenter makes the planks into furniture.
Wool: Wool is soft and warm. It comes from sheep. A shearer cuts off the fleece. The fleece is dyed and spun into yarn or thread.... And knitted into clothes.
Clay: Clay is a type of sticky soil. A big digger scoops up the clay in a quarry. A potter makes the clay into a pot. Later , it's baked hard in a hot kiln.
Metal: Metal comes from rocks in the ground. Metal is strong. It can be used to make machines.
Some metals are magnetic, which means a magnet will stick to them. Some magnets are powerful , they can lift a car into air. Strong magnet called an electromagnet. Not all metals are magnetic. Copper and gold are NOT magnetic. But iron IS magnetic. You can use a magnet to test which objects in your home are magnetic.
