After dinner, John invites Kelly to go see a movie. She accepts, so John pays the bill and they go to a newsstand to pick up a local newspaper. Kelly chooses a movie, and they hail a cab for the movie theatre.
After the movie, he takes her home. On the way, they talk about the film. Outside her apartment building, he says goodnight and says he’ll call her later in the week. Things are progressing as they should!

After dinner:
John: I’m glad to know that you’re such a big movie fan. Shall we go to see a
show?
Kelly: I’d like that. I’m really into watching movies.
John: OK, let’s finish up and go pick up a newspaper to see what’s playing around
town.
Kelly: Super! (John pays the bill and they leave the restaurant. They pick up a local
ewspaper and check the entertainment section)
John: What would you like to see?
Kelly: How about this one? Looks kind of interesting.
John: Sure does. Let’s go (he flags a taxi and they drive to a movie theatre) Here
we are (he pays the cab driver and they go to watch the movie)

After the movie:
Kelly: Wow! That movie was a smash. Thanks for taking me.
John: You’re welcome. I thought it was great, too. Much better than the last one I
saw. Boy, what a lousy film!
Kelly: A real waste of time, was it?
John: Yeah (they arrive at Kelly’s apartment. John pays the driver, and walks
Kelly to the front door) Goodnight, Kelly. I’ll call you next week, OK.
Kelly: I’d love that. Thanks for a wonderful evening, John. Goodnight.

John: 很高兴知道你是 a big movie fan. 我们 go to see a show?
Kelly: 好主意. I’m really into watching movies.
John:
Kelly:

lousy film!
Kelly:
Kelly.
John.

如果你想表达你是某人的忠实歌迷的话,可以说:“I am a big fan of his”.

如:“I am really into playing football, and sometimes I am into chatting with my friends, but never am I into studying English”.

如 “catch you later” 就是 “see you later”.

6. 这句话不是像在欢迎英雄中所说的 ‘go to the movies’ 走进电影, 而是指 ‘go to the cinema’ 走进电影院去看电影。

This movie is a hit”.

10. ‘lousy’ 在这儿表示糟糕的意思,如 “The dinner was okay, but the beer was lousy”. 它也可以用来指人,如: “Her boyfriend is a lousy guy”.

Some movies make you happy! Others make you sad! Some are based on real life, some are not. Some are interesting, and some are really boring. Movies are popular just about everywhere, but most movies are fiction. Relax, go see a movie, and remember that it’s mostly just entertainment.

A popular activity in the West is going to see a movie at a drive-in theater. You watch a movie in the comfort of your own car. Of course, like in regular movie theaters, you can visit the snack counter for typical snacks such as buttered popcorn, hot dogs, soft drinks, etc.
