纽约时报上的评价， 壮观的开幕式
Writing from Europe. This is a spectacular ceremony, showing grate elegance. It feels somehow understated despite the amazing size and obvious expense. Costumes are exquisitely made. The choreography is stunning. An emphasis on Chinese history and Chinese aesthetic form means that this does not feel ‘pop’ (cf. Sydney 2000, Atlanta 1996), and puts it in the league of the Athens 04 ceremony with its mythological motifs. A highlight for me was the tribute to Chinese characters: so cool. A further highlight is the seemingly random (to a Western viewer) order of the entry of the athletes. Team USA looks HUGE. Those poor girls in white dresses who are welcoming the athletes onto the floor look exhausted at this point, as does the audience: it looks HOT in there.
I am really looking forward to seeing the climax of the ceremony.
