Many Americans are much worse off than Indian and Chinese middle class. Americans should stop fooling themselves. All of this only proves American bankers, corporation CEOs, Pentagon top brass, and the politicians who support them do not in fact give a flying f*ck about their own country. Our one hope is to slash defense spending (a trillion dollars a year) and reinvest that money in education, training and whatever incentives companies need to be persuaded (forced) to keep trained workers on the job here.

What has actually happened over the past 2 decades is free market capitalism has been converted into corporate mercantilism, profits are still rolling in but jobs are being lost to cheaper labor markets so the middle class here is being destroyed and recreated over there.
A good analogy to understand this is to look at what transpired in Ireland in the 19th century. the crown banned mass manufacturing on the emerald isle to keep jobs and income in Great Britain and as a result the Irish remained destitute and virtually starved to death when the potato crop failed, creating profits but not jobs is a very un-healthy economic system that is speeding our race to the bottom. I remember 30 years ago discussing Japan's rise to the top and a friend telling me they were going to kick our butts. I said possibly, but you wait until the masses start demanding higher wages and benefits and the right to live better than a popper. And it happened, and now you have a country that has debt of 200% of GDP. They are no longer a force. You will see the same thing happen in china. Right now, most of the chinese live on nothing and they to will demand more over time. As that happens and they demand higher compensation, there will no longer be a reason to outsource jobs over there. Another fact that nobody talks about it is that they are communist....and no communist nation has ever been sucessfull over time.

Why should this be a bombshell. The US has been on a decline for years and no one wanted to address it. Life on easy street is over, yet the US is still the greatest country in the world but somehow the melting pot got to a boiling point and has now boiled over. It will take awhile to cool down but the symptoms of downfall were clearly evident. However, the nation of sheep did not have a good shepherd to steer them. We have been slowly dying from within, with self inflicted damage from poor leadership, loose financial policies, lack of self discipline and lack of culture. US will still be a good country but never again a great one. Nations have always died from within. We cannot blame anyone but ourselves.

Well who runs the IMF - and will the Chinese listen to them? i doubt it, and I doubt this forcast to be correct. But if the Chinese Red Army were to take over our role in Afganistan and Iraq, I wouldn't half mind.
