Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. 

There is an old saying: where there is a will, there is a way. 

So what I'm talking about today is that I believe in hard work and persistence.

Back in grade 3 and 4 of primary school, 

I didn't want to attract attention and didn't dare to deal with others. Because my academic performance（学业成绩） in my class is the worst, 

I think others look down on me. This situation continued until the first semester（学期） of the fifth grade, when the epidemic（疫情） had just begun. 

My father suggested that I watch some documentaries（纪录片） because I don't like reading, so I don't have any accumulation（积累）. 

At first I thought it was a crazy idea, because I didn't concentrate when I saw it, I couldn't learn anything at all, and I had to endure（忍受） my father's criticism（批评） all day. 

Criticism is criticism, and persistence is another matter. While criticizing, my father also encouraged me to continue watching. I watched and watched until one day I listened attentively（专心地） and understood. 

Day by day, my understanding has increased and my knowledge has been enriched（丰富）. I understand that hard work and persistence are the only way to success. 

So I began to read ancient poetry（古诗）, English words and do math problems（刷数学题） every day. 

At the beginning of school, I found that my grades（成绩） had improved greatly, sometimes even the first in my class. Since then, I have become more confident. 

Sometimes when the teacher asks questions, I actively（积极地） raise my hand, even if I'm not 100% sure I'm right. 

My interpersonal skills （人际交往能力）have also become stronger. I have made a lot of friends, and I find that my classmates don't care about my grades.
