What Dreams May Come?
It's not the European badge that makes a German chap cool- although it certainly doesn't hurt. Nobody knew that the library was being used for a secret match throughout a whole afternoon and a night yesterday. A time-consuming competition was hold between a Germen guy and I. On contract law, I sit opposite him whose head is going to bald. I know his name on Guillaume’s birthday party. He didn’t believe that was true when someone told him that some of Chinese students are learning machines. Maybe, in his mind, only Deutsche Panzer can be called a genuine machine.

Yesterday afternoon, we met at the library. While I seated myself beside the window, at the same time Panzer came and sat down on the opposite side. He smiled meaningfully toward me and I knew what did he means. The silent competition run began at 2:00 pm. A fair diner brake occurred during 5:30-6:00 pm. He printed more than 7 cases by Lexis printer and I saw him examining them very carefully. He did that throughout whole the night. I did the same thing, the same cases, for the same contract class.

As a law school student with literary roots, I love those US cases very much, about both opinions and languages. I don’t think all of us love American judge’s language, most of which are notoriously impenetrable. When German guy scratching his paper heavily, I guessed he was irritated by American judge’s stingy sentence. He gave up at 10:30 pm, leaved one half case for tomorrow. He told me about that when he said goodbye to me. When he was leaving, I turned my head and looked at Mandy, a Chinese girl, who is one of my contract classmates. She devote oneself heart and soul to reading her case. Whiling reading her cases, she didn’t care anything including a stupid silent match. She came from CUPL and she passed the China Bar Exam before she got a Bachelor’s degree from her university. She don’t go back home until 11pm every day. Once I feel tired, I prefer to think of her or look at her. I can make me keep balance.

Our law school is justly famous for its Intellectual Property Law Program. Professor Lee is the director of IP department. Professor Guerrini taught as his co-tutor for our IIP Seminar class. Yesterday morning, at 7:03, Professor Lee sent us an email, a Marrakesh Treaty attached. At 6:53 this morning, Professor Guerrini sent us another email, in which she reminded us to submit paper topic de&#115cription. Why could they weak up so early and why did they work so hard?

On my way home, Mr. Song asked me some question out of our copyright law course. His question focused on Apple v. Franklin case. Franklin used Apple’s computer programs, both operation system and application programs. While Apple sued Franklin for copyright infringement, Franklin delivered an affirmative defense. Mr. Song didn’t understand what had Franklin argued in that case. He told me that he could understand the class no more than 70%. It made him feel very anxious. I communicated that Franklin think Apple’s computer programs were part of machine and machines are not copyrightable; Apple’s computer programs were system, process and method of operation, purely abstract idea rather than literature work or expression, so they were not copyrightable; Even if Apple’s computer programs were expression, due to nobody could writer another program to do the same thing as Apple’s programs could do, Apple’s idea and expression were merged. Apple couldn’t bar others from using its ideas.

Mr. Song said thanks to me and he asked me why had I could understand that so clear. I shared four points with him.

1.Down load a Chinese version of US copyright law. Learn US copyright law’s idea in a different way. All roads lead to Rome. If we had known the law and idea, the only enemy is English language. We can concentrate a superior force to deal with the only enemy. I think it is better that we have more friends on one hand and have less enemies on the other hand.

2.Down load a Chinese judgment and learn it carefully. You would know judgment’s structure and its function. You could understand who are plaintiff, defendant and judge and why they did as they had done.

3.Brief your case and down load other’s brief of the same case. Learning from other guy’s understanding and opinion. It is a very effective way to digest your cases.

4.Discuss your case with your classmate. Classmate is our mirror. He can tell and reflect your default exactly.

You can have more power and a fancier badge, but maybe you can't have much more fun. If you got a trade secret, your business might become a fantastic game. Mr. Song agreed with me and he thanked me, but I felt I should be the grateful one.

Our American law school offers so many merits. She offers its own unique combination of personalization and performance, including all the knowledge, skill and idea that you need. That's what makes the law school such a standout. This law school demoted Alma Mater from "most fun-to-learn" to "one of the most fun-to-learn" law school in the category.

My Alma Mater is a good law school in China. I spent 7 years in her campus. I have learnt nothing but piles and piles of outdated knowledge. No skill, no method, no idea, no love related with law. To be fair, My Alma Mater taught me how to pass any kinds of exams. She permitted me enter into her campus base on I was good at exam and I had got a pretty score. Then she trained me hardly, strengthened and reinforced my exam skill. I don’t believe I would fail to pass any exam which I should pass. I’m very proud of this and simultaneously feel very disappointed.

A 15-year legal profession taught and gave me nothing except for money. My classmates of university regard me as one of rich guys of our class. Luckily, my wise invested our fortune in real property of which price kept soaring. The higher the real estate’s price, the lower believe of justice and fair play. I don’t love my legal profession while I practiced law in Beijing.

Practicality and fun don't typically hang out together, but it sure is cool when they do. Today, I think I got it. Here, this law school is teaching me how to become a good lawyer. She guides me to love legal profession. She widens my horizon greatly. All kind of resource, enormous business opportunities, inexhaustible wisdom of predecessor made me crazy! There is no reason not to love legal profession. Gradually, I begin to believe that I was born an attorney!
